Sam Liao,
Armed with a guitar and determination, Shi-xian Liao moved from
Southern Taiwan to Taipei in pursuit of a career in music. In
his debut album “Wonderland” in which he wrote and co-produced
every song, Liao sings about love, dream, frustration and
homesickness born out of years of struggle. Although the lyrics
reflect the confusion and uncertainty of youth, the music shows
an assurance beyond his age. From ballads, blues-rock, to
fast-paced, explosive rock, the eleven songs blend various
musical styles and tie them together with a heavy dose of
guitar. Liao's emotional, direct, and diverse music not only
strikes the right chord of many young people who shared the
experience of having to leave home for better opportunities in
big cities but also portends more to come.
