Taiwan Independent Compilation part .1
This album, TCM's first, ushered in a new era of independent
music in Taiwan when it was released in 1999. The list of ten
bands now reads like a who's who of the Taiwan alternate music
scene. Most of the featured bands have now released CDs of their
own, and Mayday, Backquarter, the Clippers, Chang 43, and
Samingad, all of whose music was first released on this album,
are now at the forefront of the music industry. These songs run
the gamut from gritty rock and roll to acoustic aboriginal folk
music, and are a rich and fascinating cross-section of the
people, culture, and music of Taiwan. This album won Top 10
album and Top 10 single awards from the Chinese Musicians'
