Introduction
Aborigines In The Cities The Aboriginal ensemble Am Family was named after the
simple guitar chord that is the basis of much Aboriginal music.
Formed with members of several different Taiwanese tribes, the
music is based on traditional tribal folk tunes adapted to tell
the contemporary story of the island’s Aborigines. The songs
speak of the hardships of moving from villages to the cities to
find employment, recollections of tribal children’s songs and
ceremonial songs. Pau-dull and Samingad are the staple members
of the band, with itinerant participation from friends in the
Aborigine community, and are frequently invited to perform in
China and Japan.
