Takaya, from the northern Japanese island Hokkaido, is part of
the extended acoustic music family that has members in every
corner of the world. Since 1999 Takaya has been part of a
cross-cultural music exchange including Oki, Ainu aboriginal
music from Hokkaido, and Taiwanese aboriginal artists including
pau-dull, panai, and a-minor. Takaya's music is an acoustic
celebration of community, family, friendship, roaming, and
roots.
These soulful folksongs are based on acoustic guitar and
passionate vocals, and layered with rich textures including
percussion, piano, accordion, mandolin, violin, harmony vocals,
and harmonica. This album is like a journey of mountains,
rivers, and oceans, a journey back to the origin of music as an
organic expression of people working, playing, and living
together. It's easy to slip into and recline in these natural
grooves, and when you listen to them you'll feel like part of
the family. |
