Nanwang
Sisters
Honey Voices
Winner of the Best Aboriginal Album , the Best Vocal Group and
the best producer of pop album of the 2009 Golden Melody Awards
(Taiwan's Grammy Awards).
Nanwang Sisters are 3 Puyama tribe aunts from the Nanwang
Village, Taitung. Their voices possess a sensation as grand as
the east coast, and as delightful as a cup of quality coffee.
It's almost effortless for them — they don't do so purposefully,
but they have the natural ability to let people drop their
defenses, and be intoxicated by their powerful voices.
Samingad
Li is a Puyama from the Nanwang Village. Just as her famous
singer niece Xiao-Jun Ji, her tribal name, Samingad, came from
her great-grandmother. In senior high school, she performed a
duet with Chen Hui-Qin. Before the release of her first personal
album, she astonished the audience with a song in Chen
Jian-Nian's albums in 1999.
Lavaus
Chen is a Puyama from the Nanwang Village. Her tribal name,
Lavaus, came from her great-aunt. In senior high school, she was
the guitarist and background vocalist of Double-Qin Duet. She
had been the lead singer in a band called Bat Band. Later she
and her husband Wang Zhi-Buo formed a duo named Jian-Jian. Their
children are also passionate singers who sing in chorus with
their mother in an album of the Nanwang Sisters.
I hua
Xu is the only non-Puyama singer in the Nanwang Sisters. She is
an Ami from Dulan Vilalge, with a tribal name of I hua. Earlier
in life, she had formed a duo. Later she was married to a Puyama
from the Nanwang Vilalge who she has 3 sons with. Although
people have nitpicked about the questionable purity of her
language, it is her clear enunciation and mellow voice that
really matters. |
