Chang 43 part 2
 The
title of this album in Taiwanese means country store. It refers
to an old-style restaurant that tcm’s founder Chang 43 once
called his home away from home, which he then used as the
background for this theme album. At the album’s opening, you can
hear the boss gulping down a drink while in the background,
customers chatter, steps clomp on the wood floor and an old
Taiwanese country song plays. Through the music, the
conversation around him, the food and atmosphere, Chang 43
forgets his longing for his home in rural central Taiwan and
finds, temporarily, the familiar warmth of the countryside. The
restaurant in the album has already closed, but the album keeps
alive the memory of the people, the sounds and smells of that
place. |
